The Vigo Thieves:
Straight outta Wishaw!
Vigo Thieves were born in the autum of 2008. A young quartet inspired by great music, great nights out, great laughs and a dedication that the only reason we play in a band together is for the love of it and nothing else. Steve, Barry, Gino and Al have been mates for years and have been jamming both together and apart on different projects throughout this time.
In mid September 2008 the band decided to knuckle down after deciding on what kind of sound they wanted to achieve they began an intensive rehearsal schedule and recorded some home demos which soon became hot property amongst their friends and early supporters. This was followed by some early gigs at local venue Starka in Motherwell before heading into Glasgow to play headline sets at Pivo Pivo, The Renfrew Ferry and the illustrious King Tuts Wah Wah Hut.
The band have just finished some new recordings at one of the UK’s biggest studios, CaVa in Glasgow. They band have worked hard with legendary producer Brian McNeil who played keyboard for 80’s sensation China Crisis and has worked with major acts from Belle and Sebastian, Simple Minds, Biffy Clyro to name a few.
Right now is a very busy time for the boys. They are currently writing and recording their debut album which will be due out at the turn of the year. Their first single from that album, “Won’t You Be Mine”, will be released on the 16th November. Simon Williams, the man who signed Keane and Coldplay, has likened Vigo Thieves to the next Glasvegas and New York rockers The Strokes, and has been so impressed that he is keeping tabs on the boys for the future.
This year has saw Vigo Thieves invited on tour with The Twang, playing sold out shows at the O2 Academy in Liverpool and The Leadmill in Sheffield to name a few. The Thieves have also shared the bill with Little Comets, Sergeant and american outfit Delta Spirit.
Over the next few months the boys have some prestigious gigs planned in Glasgow, London and Manchester so get on the Vigo Thieves bandwagon now before there's no seats left!
DAYBREAK
Daybreak are a indie/rock band hailing from Glasgow. They recently returned back to their original line up of Martin Timoney, Gary McGowan, Paul Timoney and Paul McPhelim. They formed back in 2003 and after winning the Glasgow Battle of the Bands they have gone on to play venues such as King Tuts, ABC1 & The main Carling Academy. They have released two EP's so far, "The Journey Home" in 2006 and "Walk Away" in 2008. Both showcased at sell out gigs in Glasgow. 4 gigs in the millionaires playground of Monaco have been lined up in Aug 08 & gigs closer to home will follow towards the end of the year. Get yourself along to a gig, you'll enjoy it - we promise!! Mon the 'Breaks.
